Medford

It's being called the Silver Tsunami.  A new study suggests Alzheimer's disease is growing at an alarming rate, and it's on pace to becoming an epidemic.

The study tracked more than 10,000 participants from Chicago for two decades.  It predicts Alzheimer's cases will triple by 2050, bringing the number afflicted by the disease up to 13.8 million. Millions more, who care for them, will also be affected.

The aging baby boomer generation, the largest segment of the general population, is fueling the expected surge.

Two days a week Lifespan in Medford offers a social outlet for those who suffer from Alzheimer's, and a respite for their caregivers.  Those with Alzheimer's and Dimentia can join in on healthy activities and socializing, while giving their caregivers a break.
