SISKIYOU COUNTY, CA

A Siskiyou County judge has ordered an animal rescue in Horse Creek to vacate their current facility in two weeks.

This happened after the landlord and officials at Dexter's Rescue Remedy Shelter got into a dispute over a lease agreement.

However, an employee at the Siskiyou County Animal Shelter heard the story and has donated 40 acres of land near Yreka to the rescue for as long as they need.

The rescue plans on moving everything within the next two weeks.

They are still looking for volunteers to help remove and set up fencing.

The rescue is also looking for families to foster some of the dogs while the move takes place to reduce the amount of stress on the dogs.

If you are able to help, you can contact the shelter at 530-496-3276 or e-mail them at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I'm helping with the rescue. The land is NOT being donated but will either be leased or purchased. We desperately need help this coming weekend to help move dog housing and dogs, plus the new property needs a 1000gal water tank and solar panels. It's a 501c3 so any donations of such as well as fencing, etc. are needed and greatly appreciated!!! Dexter's is on Facebook and communication is going through that page.
