Another domestic violence case is under investigationĀ in Southern Oregon.

Police say a father and son landed in jail Sunday after the younger man got aggressive with officers and the elder barricaded himself inside a house and threatened to shoot police if they didn't leave.

The case started with a report of a physical disturbance at a home on Fish Trap Road outside Coquille at 9:33 p.m.

Cortland M. Smith III, 29, of Coos Bay was taken into custody by force.

His father, 59-year-old Cortland M. Smith Jr., barricaded himself inside the house with his ex-wife and two grandchildren.

Hours later, the children and ex-wife were released safely from the residence, allowing police to enter the home and take the elder Smith into custody.

Both men are now facing numerous charges.
