A federal civil suit has been filed against a former teacher and councilor at Little Butte Elementary school in Eagle Point.

Filed on Monday in a U.S. District Court, the suit alleges that teacher Joel Heller repeatedly molested two young girls in his classroom during the fall of 2011.

The suit also alleges that school administrators failed to protect the girls from the abuse.

Lawyers for the two girls claim the abuse happened during recess hours as well as during class time.

Heller is currently not working for the school and it is unclear whether he was fired or resigned.

its not the first time a student has complained about a teacher.my soon goes to pheonix school and was all but called a lier for complaining about a teacher crabbing him.The school took the side of the teacher before looking into anything.I was all but called a lier for listening to my own kid who isnt knowen to be a lier but was treated as one the minute he had a complaint.thats crap and public schools need to listen to there students .Stop worrying about there funding and rember what there job is all about. The students.I as a parent have been trying to get the local schools to listen when it came to my kids and my son is still struggling. This may seem a little off task but still our kids are not being heard and us as there parents arent anymore important. So that teacher needs to be treated as though he is on trial and not be paid or favored until this matter is solved.

I need to add that pheonix school is one of the better schools in our area. But the fact is if there is a complaint it needs to be taken to heart and not just about protecting our teachers. We as parents and adults need to protect our kids.....
