Tomorrow will mark the one week anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings and while no one will ever forget about the attacks, today local runners took sometime to heal and bring closure to the ordeal.
These are images that shocked the world. Medford resident Justin Rosas had finished the marathon last week an hour before the explosions and now nearly a week later he and nearly 200 other runners took time to remember the victims of the boston tragedy.
The attacks are thought to be planned out by two brothers Tamerlin and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Tamerlin was Killed thursday night in a shootout with police and Dzhokhar is now in custody after a city wide manhunt. Now the world is mourning the loss of 4 who died over the past week including 8-year Martin Richards. Today local runners gathered at Lost Creek Lake to remember the lives taken last week.
Each runner was asked to donate at least one dollar for every mile ran with 100% of the money to be donated to 8-year-old Martin Richard's school, one of the people who died in the Boston bombing.
More than 2,000 dollars was raised prior to the run but Rosas says it's not all about the money raised, right now its about taking the time to heal.
Almost 4,000 dollars was raised. If you missed today's race but would still like to donate, here are 2 links you can visit:
