A 'miracle dog' is back home with her family after being lost in the woods near Keno for over three weeks.
Rosie the dog is back home, and chasing bubbles. Owner Marjorie Waltman is overjoyed...
"Tears. My family is back together. It just didn't feel right for weeks, and now it does - now it feels good."
Rosie ran off after a deer on the evening of February 29th. Her owner John Waltman got lost when he went out and tried to find her.
"I got turned around, turned backwards out there. And then the storm came in, and I couldn't find my way home."
Mrs. Waltman notes that neighbors assisted Klamath County search and rescue crews...
"We'd only been here two days. And we, all of our neighbors, everybody lit up their yards - I mean, we didn't even have flashlights - they lent us flashlights, they went out and looked."
Neighbor Troy Culver eventually located Mr. Waltman...
"I heard John snoring over there against a tree. I ran over there, and hollered at my wife, to go get search and rescue - we got him out of here."
But Rosie was still on the loose - until a neighbor found her last weekend by the Klamath River. John Waltman notes that the reunion was a happy one...
"So we went up there, and saw her, and brought her home and it's been great."
Rosie isn't saying what she's been up to for the past three weeks. But the Waltmans are just happy to be back together.
John Waltman spent five days in the hospital after his ordeal, and another week recovering at home.
Rosie the dog lost a lot of weight while she was lost, but she's now getting veterinary care.
