Standoff in Merlin Ends Peacefully

Merlin, Ore.

A Josephine County man is arrested by Oregon State Police, after causing a standoff in Merlin.

Officials say reports of a man with a firearm came in around 5 P.M. Wednesday night. Troopers responded to the residence in the 100 block of Peach street. Reports say the man barricaded himself in the house, with two other people.

The situation escalated into a standoff, and an OSP SWAT team was dispatched to the scene. Officials were able to take the man into custody just before 12:30 A.M. Thursday morning. His name has not yet been released.

Police say one person who was in the house received injuries to their hand, after being shot by the suspect.

More information is expected to be released by Thursday afternoon.
