On capitol hill -today is the first full day for the 113th congress.
Lawmakers will get to work debating legislation that would provide 51 billion dollars in disaster relief aid - for victims of hurricane Sandy.
A vote is expected by the end of today - although its outcome is uncertain.
Conservative Republicans have argued that the price tag is too high - and that it would add to the nation's growing debt.
