‘Brown Thursday’ brings holiday shoppers

Medford, Ore — After a day of being thankful people flocked to stores for an evening of door-buster deals.

Thanksgiving isn’t even over yet but some rogue valley shoppers are getting the best of doorbuster savings before Black Friday even begins.

They don’t call it a doorbuster for nothing.

Hundreds of shoppers looking to get a head start on their gift list hit businesses on thanksgiving night for what’s being called Brown Thursday.

“We got two tv’s, some games, get some Christmas shopping done early,” said Therone Chan.

It’s a day employees at the Medford Best Buy have been training for for months.

“we start back in September October our holiday hiring to get the knowledge level up so as customers come in they have a well informed associate to help them which is a key piece,” said Store Manager Nick Lingo.

For customers it’s a chance to skip the Black Friday masses and save a little money on the way.

“Saves us some dollars through the Christmas shopping, so why not,” said Chan.

For others it’s a chance to get Christmas started early.

If you’re worried that you might miss out? Best buy is open until 1am and will reopen at 8am tomorrow. Other stores in our area will be open as early as 6am and don’t forget about small business Saturday.
