Update 08/08 12:30 p.m. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has suspended the search for a hiker who was reported missing in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness.
Deputies said the decision to suspend the search for Riley Zickel was made after “exhausting all available leads”.
Family members of Zickel have elected to continue their search.
Detroit, Ore. — Search crews are busy looking for a 21-year-old hiker who is missing in the Mount Jefferson wilderness.
Portland NBC affiliate KGW reports Portland area man Riley Zickel planned to meet friends this past Thursday and head north for another hiking trip, but he never showed.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said Zickel is an experienced hiker with proper equipment and a cell phone, but crews have not been able to find the signal.
The search is ongoing.
