Dallas officers laid to rest

NC_dallas160713_1500x845Dallas, Tex. (NBC News) — Remembered for their courage and dedication, the Dallas, Texas community gathered Wednesday to say goodbye to three of the five police officers killed in last Thursday’s deadly sniper attack.

Separate services were held honoring each officer.

DART policeman Brent Thompson, a former Marine, left behind six children and a wife of two weeks.

Dallas Police Sgt. Michael Smith, a 28 year department veteran, also served seven years in the Army.

Officer Lorne Ahrens, a father of two, was known for his smile and dependability, a big guy with an even bigger heart.
