Equipment worth thousands stolen from Illinois Valley Fire District

Cave Junction, Ore. —  A thief hit the Illinois Valley Fire Department. Fire crews said someone took more than $8,000 worth of rescue equipment. The theft happened Sunday.

Illinois Valley Fire District said they were going through a daily inventory check when they noticed the water and high angle rope rescue equipment was gone.

The district said the equipment has little value on the street.

“That equipment is really no use to the public. If we can get it back, we’d like to get it back,” said Jason Bayless, Illinois Valley Fire District.

The district doesn’t have the money to replace the gear just yet.

If you have any information on the suspect or see the equipment – call the fire department or the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.
