Friday marks five year anniversary of Oso landslide

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. (NBC) – Friday marks five years since a massive landslide killed dozens of people in Washington State.

43 people died in the Oso landslide north of Seattle.

The slide also destroyed nearly 50 homes and structures.

Rescue crews spent days searching vast debris piles, measuring 30 to 70 feet deep.

A memorial service for the victims is planned for later today.
