Gas line cut on Highway 99 in Phoenix

GAS LEAKPhoenix, Ore.– A natural gas leak shuts down traffic on Highway 99 in Phoenix near the Fern Valley interchange.  Around 8a.m. this morning, Fire District 5, Talent Police and Phoenix Police responded to calls of a cut gas line outside businesses on Highway 99 between Cheryl Lane and West Bolz Road.

“As everyone knows there is a lot of construction going on in the area and one of the construction companies that was digging along North Main Street or Highway 99 cut one of the gas lines,” says Phoenix Police Chief Derek Bowker.

Avista gas workers were on scene to turn off the gas line and roads were reopened around 10:30am.  Business owners in the area say this isn’t the first time a gas line was accidentally cut in the area.  The same thing happened nearby in February of 2014.
