Grants Pass City Council working to find solution to “camel humps”

Camel HumpsGrants Pass, Ore. — The Grants Pass City Council is looking for a safe solution to the “camel humps” on Northeast Ninth Street.

The council heard from the City Utilities Director who presented several alternatives for slowing traffic.

Narrowed lanes, speed tables made of rubber, asphalt or concrete were among the alternatives suggested.

Councilors took a straw poll which showed them leaning toward the asphalt speed table.

The camel humps have become popular with young drivers who want to catch air with their cars which has caused several crashes, one of them fatal.
