Tonight an alleged serial bank robber is in the Jackson County Jail. Police say he admitted to four recent bank robberies and it was an employee at one of those banks that pressed the panic button when they saw the man again Saturday afternoon.
A calm scene Sunday at the parking lot of the Albertson’s on North Phoenix Road in Medford. A different story however on Saturday when bankers at the US Bank inside of Albertson’s recognized this man. 30 year old Christopher Wood of Medford waiting in line.
“Part of the reason we were called was that he was dressed in the same manner in several if not all of the robberies,” said Sgt. Kerry Curtis.
According to police, since December first of last year Wood admitted to a total of four separate bank robberies. Two happening here at the Sterling Bank of Stewart Avenue. While the other two at the US Bank inside of Albertson’s.
“I’m lead to believe that it was probably going to happen again and it fits his pattern.”
On Saturday while wood waited in line, police say he became suspicious and took off. But officers had already been called and were waiting near the back of the parking lot near the Larson Creek Shopping Center.
“We were able to have him arrested and detained. He was certainly willing to communicate with us and he was very cooperative when he was arrested.”
Authorities searched Wood’s car and found clothing and cash that matched up with the previous four robberies.
“It was almost like he was superstitious, it was his good luck clothing and his luck ran out.”
Wood now sits in the Jackson County Jail on four counts of 2nd degree robbery and bail has been set at 4 million dollars.
