FBI: UCC shooting case still open

0928-umpqua-community-collegeRoseburg, Ore. — More than a year after the Umpqua Community College shooting that killed nine people, the case is still open.

The problem is a major back-up at the FBI. While the shooter is known, the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still a mystery.

The FBI is doing an analysis of the event but the number of mass shootings over the last year has slowed that analysis down.

NBC5 News spoke with the FBI agent in charge today. In a statement, he said the FBI is, “Working on a law enforcement sensitive analysis that is intended to help understand behavioral patterns, warning signs and other factors. This work is on-going and I do not have a timeline for its completion.”
