Medford woman sentenced for murdering her husband

Yreka, Calif. — A judge sentenced Medford woman Patricia MacCallum to 50 years to life in prison Tuesday for murdering her husband Chris.

Patricia was found guilty of shooting and killing Chris in Siskiyou County in 2013 after a two week trial. Her former stepsister, Amber Lubbers, testified that she and Patricia plotted together to murder Chris during a camping trip.

His body was discovered at the bottom of a steep cliff in the Applegate recreation area in 2012. He had been shot multiple times.

Both Patricia and Chris’ families were in court Tuesday. Chris’ father, Mike, and other family members read letters to the courtroom. As Mike read his letter he asked the judge for a life sentence for Patricia, on behalf of the family.

Patricia also addressed the courtroom and said Amber Lubbers fooled them all and said she didn’t kill her husband. She even called herself another victim of the crime.
