Mt. Ashland, Ore.- An early open to the ski and snowboard season may be in the works for Mt. Ashland Ski Area.

The lodge at the ski area received approximately seven inches of snow over the weekend, according to Hiram Towle, General Manager. The ski area had hoped to open its season December 10, however, if the weather continues to cooperate, it could open as early as Thanksgiving.

“At this point, it’s up to Mother Nature,” said Towle.

Before the ski area opens, lifts must be inspected and work must be completed to make the area ready for visitors. Employees must also be hired, which will happen in November following the ski area’s job fair on Nov. 10.
