New rules for marijuana farms in Jackson County

MEDFORD, Ore. — After weeks of meeting, Jackson County Commissioners are making some land rules for marijuana farms.

They’ve agreed to allow people to burn cannabis waste, and grow indoors with a light on industrial land in conjunction with processing.

They also voted to strike all survey requirements and to follow state law on water requirements. However, they are still divided on the “250 foot set backs” for plants from property lines.

“I would recommend to the board that you go with adjacent to residential lands if you want to do it. If you want to have any certain set backs or any sort of buffer,” said Development Services Director Kelly Madding.

Discussions will continue next Wednesday, February 17th.
