Grants Pass, Ore — The clean up continues from a powerful system that brought wind and rain through the region that left thousands without power.
Wednesday’s high winds did a number on power lines, limbs and trees throughout the area, and as power was restored homeowners awoke to find what was left after the storm.
It’s been a busy day for Steve Schiffman.
“Lots of call and lots of trees to look at,” said Schiffman
Schiffman owns Surgeon General Tree Service, and a spring storm is giving him plenty of customers, like Sarah Dinsdale.
“We were going to try and do something about it but nature decided to do something on it’s own,” said Dinsdale.
Luckily the only damage from the limb in her yard was a small child’s swing, but Schiffman says it doesn’t take much to bring down the biggest of trees.
“When they get stressed out with heavy winds and rain, you want to keep it safe,” said Schiffman.
That’s why he says it’s best to keep your trees trimmed before mother nature does the work for you.
“Sometimes you get one chance, and you want to be careful,” said Schiffman.
Schiffman says check your trees for cracks, holes and rotting limbs that could weaken the entire tree and make it vulnerable to high winds, like those from Wednesday night’s storm.
