Vehicle pursuit on I-5 ends in crash

UPDATE: 09/26/16 10:30 pm:

Oregon State Police say the driver was being pulled over for driving a stolen car, when he failed to yield and took off.

Police laid down spikes near Exit 27, and then the driver crashed at Exit 24 and took off on foot before he was caught.

The driver is in the hospital tonight.

Medford, Ore. — A scene out of Los Angeles played out in Medford after a driver lead police on a chase, narrowly missing cars before crashing.

NBC5 News caught the chase on our Rogue Valley Manor Cam.

0926-car-crashMuch of the chase happened on southbound Interstate 5 about 4:00 Monday afternoon.

At this point, we don’t know where it started, or why the driver was trying to ditch officers.

The chase ended near the Phoenix Interchange when the car suddenly veered off, racing across every lane of the freeway.

The car finally stopped in a field behind the Lazy Boy store.

According to Jackson County Fire District 5, the driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries.
